SRAM – During a 6-year history of Eagle and 11-years of the dedicated 1x drivetrain, we’ve refined the facets of the system we control. Even with this legacy, we wondered whether a new level of performance was possible, not just for SRAM’s benefit, but to help riders and improve the ride as a whole. So, we rethought the entire interface between frame, wheel, and drivetrain. Eagle Transmission is a first-of-its-kind approach to the mountain bike drivetrain that sets a new bar and new expectation to the whole system.

Simplicity now simpler
By building everything around the center of the wheel axle itself, Eagle Transmission uses no derailleur hanger allowing for a totally new, streamlined way to set up your bike with no further adjustment required.
To set up Eagle Transmission, all you need is a chainbreaker, an 8-millimeter hex, a T-25 torx, and a torque wrench.

Eagle Transmission is an approach to the mountain bike drivetrain that sets a new bar and new expectation as the realization of a first-of-its-kind approach to the whole system. An approach built around the one constant across all bikes – the center of the wheel and axle – eliminating unnecessary parts and allowing all other requisite features work in perfect relationship to this constant.
What used to be a “drivetrain” is now a fully integrated and interdependent wireless transmission making setup mind-blowingly easy. It also delivers unprecedented strength, reliability, and durability. The need for adjustment has been eliminated. For the first time ever, the Eagle Transmission delivers a shift under any circumstance, even with the additional torque loads of E-MTB. That oversized bottom pulley in the Inline Cage is called the Magic Wheel because its outer ring rotates independently from the inner spoked hub. Should a stick become lodged between pulley and cage, Magic Wheel takes over, and your chain can continue threading through the derailleur without a damaging jam or bind.
As a safeguard to the ride experience, the magic wheel allows for continuous chain movement, even if the lower pulley wheel is impeded by debris.
As with the entire Eagle Transmission system, robustness itself starts with simplicity too. The fewer the variables, the less chance there is to go wrong. Where the Universal Derailleur Hanger once was, the Hangerless Interface allows the derailleur to “Full Mount” at a single constant center point – the wheel’s axle. Consistent positioning of the derailleur relative to the cassette means crisper, more reliable shifting, easier setup and greater system longevity.
Utilizing the widely adopted frame design required for the Universal Derailleur Hanger, the Hangerless Interface allows Eagle Transmission to work around the one universal constant – the center of the rear axle. This opens up the possibility for perfect shifting, eliminates unnecessary parts and allows all other features to work in perfect relationship to this constant.
