What You’ll Learn

In this course, we cover the full spectrum of bike maintenance, from basic upkeep to more complex repairs, all while encouraging hands-on practice. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Week 1: Introduction and Orientation

    • Get to know the workshop, your instructor and each other. Learn about tools and lubes, measurements & torque, and do a full Q&A checkover of your bike. Questions are highly encouraged and will set the tone for the rest of the program!

  • Week 2: What about Wheels

    • Dive deep into the design and function of the bicycle wheel. Learn how to true wheels, overhaul hubs, fix punctures, and assess tire wear for various riding conditions. 

  • Week 3: Brake Systems & Adjustments

    A full night of brakes! Learn function, diagnostic and maintenance with a focus on hydraulic brake bleeds, including understanding rotor & brake pad wear and replacement, fluids. and best practices.

  • Week 4: Dissecting Drivetrains
    Complete removal, cleaning and reassembly of your drivetrain including bottom bracket overhaul, derailleur installation and set-up.

    • Week 5: Putting it all together

    • Repetition, Repetition, Repetition in the name of solidifying the knowledge you've gained! After a quick refresher on all you've learned, this class will be mostly student directed to address any lingering questions or desired projects
